Santa Cruz Tallboy 6 CC 2027
2027 Santa Cruz Tallboy CC
The Fast One That Still Wants Trouble
The Tallboy has always sat in that brilliant grey area between XC speed and trail bike confidence. This new version sharpens that idea right up. It’s lighter than before, gets more travel, moves to a 4-bar suspension layout, and keeps the fast, lively feel that makes a Tallboy such a good second bike, everyday bike, or “one bike that somehow does most things” bike.
Â
Lighter, Longer, More Capable
The latest Tallboy gets 130mm rear travel paired with a 140mm fork, both up 10mm from the previous generation. That extra travel gives it more composure when the trail gets rough, but Santa Cruz have also taken over 300g out of the CC frame, so it still feels quick, efficient, and properly responsive under power.
Â
CC Carbon Only : No Second-Tier Frame Here
All UK Tallboy builds use Santa Cruz’s CC carbon frame, so you’re getting the good chassis whichever build kit you choose. That means the same lifetime warranty, the same tough construction, the same neat internal routing, and the same ride quality across the range.
Â
4-Bar Suspension : Why It Matters
This generation moves away from VPP and uses a 4-bar layout designed specifically to make the Tallboy lighter, more supportive, and more active on real trails. The idea is simple: better traction, better braking behaviour, and a more consistent feel through the travel, without turning the bike into something lazy or overbuilt.
Â
Fast Geometry, Trail Confidence
The Tallboy keeps its 29" wheels for speed, stability, and ground-covering efficiency, but the geometry has been brought up to date with a slacker head angle, steeper seat angle, shorter seat tubes, and size-specific rear centres. It still pedals like a bike you want to ride all day, but it now gives you more confidence when the trail points down.
Â
90 Build : The Proper Entry Into Tallboy CC
The 90 build is the most straightforward way into the new Tallboy platform. You still get the CC carbon frame, RockShox Pike Select 140mm fork, Deluxe Select+ shock, SRAM Eagle 90 drivetrain, DB8 Stealth brakes, and Reserve 30|TR alloy wheels on DT Swiss 370 hubs. It’s the sensible one, but not a basic one.
Â
XT Di2 Build : The Premium UK Pick
The XT Di2 build is the one that feels properly sorted from the first ride. A Pike Ultimate fork and Deluxe Ultimate shock bring more adjustability and better suspension feel, Shimano XT Di2 gives fast, precise electronic shifting, and the Reserve 30|SL alloy wheels on DT 350 DEG hubs make it a tough, reliable, high-performance package.
Â
Glovebox V2 & Real Trail Details
Santa Cruz have tidied up the details too. Glovebox V2 gives better access and more usable downtube storage, top tube mounts let you add extra kit, the geo flip chip gives you Hi and Lo settings, and the improved seat tube insertion means more dropper travel across the size range.
Â
Tallboy CC : The Lowdown
This is the Tallboy doing what Tallboys do best, just with more speed, more confidence, and a better suspension feel. It’s for riders who like covering ground, climbing under their own steam, and still want a bike that comes alive when the trail gets rough, steep, or stupidly fun. Fast enough for big-mile missions, tough enough for proper trails, and sharp enough to make every ride feel worth squeezing in.
